I always marvel at how fast time flies – I am starting my 26th year of teaching in less than two weeks and it doesn’t ‘feel’ like I’ve been doing this a quarter of a century! Wow – what a way to think of it! But what does time feel like, anyway – it’s really ephemeral and truly just marked by beautiful and memorable moments that become a part of who we are. So time, in short, creates us.
I love every minute of my work and still feel like I should adjust or tweak different approaches and lessons and even after 25 years, I feel like I can be do and be better. Maybe that’s the mark of someone who still likes their job – someone always working on the approach and the subject matter and always growing and knowing that there is improvement to be made – no matter what.
I know that what I really love are the students; there is nothing like watching people grow and find their potential, and this is worth EVERY minute, EVERY hour, and EVERY day of my work. It is a pleasure and a privilege to teach these fantastic young people.
Here’s to year 26! Woot! Woot!
